Unified Security Streamlines University's Overall Safety Strategy

Fully Integrated Video Monitoring & S2 Access Control

For over a century, Prairie View A&M has long been a key member to the Texas A&M University system. With multiple security programs that didn’t talk to each other, the University needed a streamlined process for better security management.

Prairie View A&M faced three main challenges: consolidation, integration and communication. Prior to Knight, the University was using three separate access control systems and several video management systems in multiple buildings. No less than four different credentials were being used to access a wide variety of buildings. Police Chief Zena Stephens needed a better system to monitor all Campus Security events located in the Police Department’s Command Station, while giving each building control over their own daily functions.

Knight designed an enterprise-level architecture that unified the building's security, ultimately giving the university more autonomy over their design and selection of devices while still maintaining expectations for top-quality security.
