This month's employee spotlight is on SecurePlan Customer Service Coordinator Nikki Atkins! Originally from Dallas, Nikki just hit her one-year mark in May. In this article, we learn more about what keeps Nikki busy outside of work, what her hobbies are, and what she likes best about working at Knight!

Do you have any certifications or degrees?

I have a degree in Business Administration.

How long have you worked at Knight and why have you chosen to work here?

I've been with Knight for just over a year, but I have been in the Service Industry for nearly 25 years. Knight's mission statement, “Honor, Integrity and Service”, stood out to me and I KNEW this was the place for me to share my experience and learn new things with an AMAZING company! What a powerful mission statement!

What has been your favorite memory/achievement at Knight?

My biggest achievement was meeting my one-year mark. I couldn’t believe how quickly one year had come around; within this short period of time, I’ve learned so much! I’m excited to see what the future holds as I continue to excel within the company.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Building relationships with our customers is what I enjoy most. It gives me great joy to hear their positivity after their concerns have been addressed and resolved.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy cooking and spending time with my grandbabies and family.

What are some of your hobbies?

Some of my hobbies include shopping, going to waterparks, and driving my Dodge Charger (I love that car! LOL)

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best piece of advice I've ever received is “Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.”

What is something about you that may surprise your team to know?

In honor of my youngest daughter, who passed at the age of 11 in June 2011, I created an outreach organization called "Deja’s Smile Foundation” to give back to the community. We prepare and feed the homeless, provide clothing, toiletries, and other assistance once a month on a Saturday in the Dallas area. We collected hundreds of items to distribute to those who are having difficult times (coats, shoes, socks, hats, blankets, water, clothing, etc.) during the winter and summer months prior to COVID. I’m looking forward to resuming this fall because it is such a rewarding feeling and my heart is overwhelmed with joy to give back in my daughter’s name.

What is your favorite summertime activity?

My favorite place to go in the summer is Schlitterbahn - New Braunfels! It's an awesome place and we typically go every summer!
